Check Forsyth VINELink Custody

A Forsyth County VINELink inmate check helps you find one person after an arrest. It can also enroll you for alerts. These cover a release, transfer, escape, or other custody change. North Carolina runs the service under the name NC SAVAN. It ties county jails together with Adult Corrections. It does not reach every spot where an arrested person might be, though. So a missing result does not mean no arrest happened. Think of VINELink as a custody and notification tool. It is not a booking-photo source or a court record. A call to the facility itself still settles questions.

Forsyth VINELink Coverage

North Carolina's version of VINE is NC SAVAN. That stands for the Statewide Automated Victim Assistance and Notification service. Its official description says it electronically links every North Carolina jail with Adult Corrections. That includes prison, probation, and parole. The statewide reach makes it useful for checking custody. You can rely on it for the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center. The state publishes no page confirming Forsyth participation on its own. So never treat a person's absence or presence as a guarantee. Custody and some court-status lookups run around the clock. Use the North Carolina VINELink person portal or call 1-877-NC SAVAN (1-877-627-2826). The service works in English and Spanish. Many other languages are supported too. NCDAC also posts a caution of its own. It does not control the external VINELink site's security, privacy, or accuracy.

The capture identifies the statewide notification channel that includes county-jail and Adult Corrections data.

Search a Forsyth Inmate

Gather solid identifying details before you search, since a name alone invites false matches. A different spelling, a suffix, a middle name, or an agency transfer can shift the results. Search one person, and trust only the fields the service actually displays.

  1. Open the official North Carolina person search in VINELink.
  2. Choose North Carolina and enter the person's name or identification value accepted by the live form.
  3. Review possible matches for facility, custody status, and identifying details.
  4. Open the matching record only after confirming more than one detail.
  5. Record the access time and contact the named facility when the status is urgent or unclear.

The official search capture shows the correct North Carolina entry point.

The search answers a custody question, nothing more. It does not hand you a full Forsyth County arrest record. For the booking event itself, start with the Forsyth County recent-arrests hub. For a fresh county booking, check the Daily Arrest Report. You can also call the LEDC at 336-917-7600. VINE results can lag. The facility may have already acted.

Forsyth Custody Result Fields

The fields exist to answer status and notification questions, not to replace an arrest report, jail record, or court docket. Read each label literally and keep its timestamp intact.

Information What it can answer
Custody status Whether the participating system reports the person in a listed custody state.
Facility Which participating jail or prison supplied the result.
Offender or inmate ID A public value that helps separate similar names.
Release or transfer notice A reported change, subject to system timing and confirmation.
Supervision status State probation or parole information when included by Adult Corrections.
Court event A notice category with rules separate from custody alerts.

VINELink is not a mugshot service. It is no substitute for the North Carolina court portal either. Use it for custody status and alerts, and look elsewhere for booking photos or case files.

Register for Forsyth Alerts

NC SAVAN can notify you by phone, email, or text. Registration stays anonymous, with a four-digit PIN guarding phone access. The PIN proves the right caller got and understood the automated call, so pick a number and email account the recipient truly controls.

  1. Open the matching custody record and select the registration option.
  2. Choose phone, email, or text from the methods offered by the live service.
  3. For phone registration, create a four-digit PIN that is easy for the registrant to recall but hard for others to guess.
  4. Confirm the registration and save the offender ID, facility, chosen channel, and date.
  5. When a transfer notice arrives, check whether the new county jail requires a new registration.

Routine phone calls land inside the service's stated daytime window. Critical ones can come at any hour. Think release, escape, or capture. Email alerts also arrive at any time. The hotline answers status checks at every hour of the day. Never lean on one automated message for personal safety.

Why Alerts May Need Renewal

A move between participating county jails can trigger an alert. But the NC SAVAN FAQ says continued notice may require re-registration. Write down the facility shown when you register. After a transfer, find the person in the receiving system. Confirm your alert still stands. The FAQ also draws a line between custody notices and court-event notices. Signing up for one does not enroll you in every category. Court events may ride on district attorney data. Release and transfer events flow through participating custody systems. Read the confirmation message and re-register whenever the service tells you to.

A transfer or a no-match should always be weighed against the service's stated scope.

Forsyth VINELink No-Match Limits

NC SAVAN does not watch everyone. It skips people held at a police precinct and those who bond out at the magistrate without a jail booking. It also skips juveniles. So does anyone held in a mental-health facility. Federal custody through the Bureau of Prisons is outside its reach. So is immigration detention through ICE. And a person may simply appear under a different spelling. They may also get processed later, be released, or be transferred.

No-match rule: absence from VINELink does not prove that no arrest occurred or that a person is safe, released, or outside custody.

For Forsyth county jail custody, call the Law Enforcement Detention Center at 201 North Church Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101, phone 336-917-7600. For a sentenced state inmate, use the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. Federal and immigration cases each have their own official locators.

County Jail Versus State Custody

The LEDC holds adult pretrial detainees and sentenced misdemeanants. NCDAC runs the state prisons and community supervision. A person can shift from county jail to state custody after sentencing. That shift changes where the record lives. Forsyth Correctional Center is an NCDAC minimum-custody reentry facility. It is not the county jail, and it does not signal a fresh local arrest. A person may leave county custody for a state sentence. Then the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is the right route. Keep that state offender result separate from the original Forsyth arrest and booking. A later prison location marks a custody stage, not a new county event.

Pretrial
Held while the criminal case remains unresolved.
Transfer
A move from one facility or system to another.
Probation
Court-ordered supervision in the community.
Parole
Conditional release under state supervision.

Confirm Forsyth Custody Changes

Alerts help, but they are not a safety guarantee. Networks lag, contact details fail, and a custody event can slip past system coverage. When a notice drives an immediate safety plan, confirm it with the facility listed. Use emergency services if danger is present.

Keep the offender ID, registration date, source facility, and PIN private. Check the service again after any transfer alert. For a court outcome, ask the Forsyth County Clerk. No photographs are hosted or re-published here. A VINE result is not an invitation to track anyone down. It exists for status checks, notice, and informed contact with official agencies.

Choose the Correct Custody ID

County and state identifiers are not always interchangeable. An NCDAC policy says VINELink receives offender information through the state's OPUS system and through each county jail management system. A North Carolina Parole Commission manual adds that a county-jail misdemeanor confinement case may use a jail ID instead of an OPUS ID. If a name search returns several people or no result, check which system created the number before assuming the record is missing.

NC SAVAN also distinguishes custody registration from some court-event services. The FAQ indicates that anyone may call or register for custody alerts under its rules, while certain court-event notifications are for statutorily designated victims. Select only the notification category the live record offers. A custody alert reports movement in a participating system; it does not say whether prosecutors filed the same charge shown at booking or how a judge later resolved it.

After sentencing, a person may remain at the county jail while awaiting transport to NCDAC. The state says the destination and transfer timing are not disclosed until arrival, and diagnostic processing may take up to six weeks. During that transition, the Forsyth roster, VINELink, and NCDAC offender locator can appear to disagree. Compare dates and identifiers, then ask the agency responsible for the custody stage shown.

Forsyth Correctional Center is one possible state-system context, but its name can be misleading. It is a male minimum-custody reentry facility at 307 Craft Drive in Winston-Salem, with an official listed capacity of 248. It is separate from the downtown LEDC. Presence there reflects state correctional custody and does not establish a new Forsyth County arrest. The facility can be reached at 336-896-7041 for appropriate official confirmation.
